Mills 41 Ambush takes the IRC Overall Win in the Hong Kong to Hainan Race!

Second to arrive in Sanya, Hainan (after Karl Kwok’s MOD Beau Geste) and claiming Monohull Line Honours was Sam Chan’s TP52 FreeFire. FreeFire arrived on Friday night at 20h 15m 40s HK time, with an elapsed time of 32h 55m 40s. Sam Chan is the only owner to have a version of FreeFire take part in every edition of the Hong Kong to Hainan Race. 由香港遊艇會舉辦的「香港至海南賽」IRC組全場總冠軍由Mills 41 Ambush號奪得! 陳永燊的TP52 FreeFire 號緊隨郭志樑的MOD Beau Geste號,是比賽中第二艘抵達海南三亞的賽船,奪得單體船衝線冠軍。FreeFire 號於香港時間星期五晚上8時15分40秒到達,更正時間為32小時55分40秒。陳永燊是FreeFire 號的唯一擁有人,更帶同此FreeFire 號參與歷屆香港至海南賽。 相隔不久,Joachim Isler 和 Drew Taylor的Mills 41 Ambush號便於香港時間晚上10時34分54秒抵達三亞,並奪得IRC組全場總冠軍。 Mills 41 Ambush對於成為IRC 組別總排名第一,舵手Isler表示非常高興,並指最高的航行速度達25節,所有船員在整場賽事中均異常努力應戰,是實至名歸的。 Fred Kinomoth 及Nick Burns的GTS 43 Mandrake III卻獲IRC總排名第三。他指賽事其間發生了一些小插曲,令他們收起球帆時有一些阻滯,但整體而言卻非常享受是次比賽。 其餘賽船亦遂漸靠近終點,預料全部賽船將會在今日下午至晚上抵達,頒獎禮將於今晚假三亞半山半島帆船港舉行。

中國海岸帆船賽週 2018-MOD Beau Geste 號奪多體船衝線冠軍

由香港遊艇會舉辦的「香港至海南賽」進入第二天賽事,郭志樑的MOD Beau Geste於香港時間今早11時21分59秒抵達海南,成功以24小時1分29秒成績奪得多體船衝線冠軍,並僅以30分07秒落後由新鴻基李成煌的100尺超級帆船Scallywag號於2016年創下的記錄,她當年的衝線時間為23小時31分52秒。 郭志樑在賽後表示非常享受比賽過程。他說:「初段時間較為艱辛,但當進入海南海域範圍後便變得平靜下來了,整個航程中均一直與風力對抗。我們的最高航速為每小時30節,理應我們該於6小時前抵達,可惜事與愿違。」 預計下一艘到達的賽船將會是陳永燊的TP52 Free Fire號及Joachim Isler 和 Drew Taylor Mills 41 Ambush號。 其餘賽船預料將於今明兩日抵達。

Hong Kong to Hainan Race - MOD Beau Geste Claims Line Honours and Sets Multihull Record

Karl Kwok’s MOD Beau Geste raced into Hainan at 11h 21m 59s Hong Kong time this morning, taking Line Honours and setting the Race’s first multihull record of 24h 1m 59s. MOD Beau Geste narrowly missed the race record of 23h 31m 52s that was set in 2016 by Seng Huang Lee's 100ft Super Maxi Scallywag by a mere 30m 07s. Karl Kwok commented on the Race, “It's been an interesting race, the start was so severe, so rough, but by the time we reached Hainan everything had calmed down, and we were fighting for wind. 中國海岸帆船賽週 2018 - 香港至海南賽正式啟航唯新鴻基賽船因機件問題退出比賽

由香港遊艇會舉辦的「香港至海南賽」今早(10月18日)正式展開,海面每小時吹12節東風。起步前,各參賽船隊聚集在賽事委員會船隻後方,一方面適應海面情狀況,另一方面防止賽船被湧浪推越起點線。賽事開始後,郭志樑的「騰龍號」首先經過鯉魚門峽,緊隨後方有Meitatsu Fukumoto號及新鴻基李成煌的Orma 60 Scallywag Fuku號。 下午2時,「騰龍號」及新鴻基Scallywag Fuku號錄得以高達28節速度航行,整個賽程長390海浬,兩艘多體船已分別離開起點51及49海浬,向中國海南全速進發。 可惜,於同日下午2時36分,香港遊艇會接獲新鴻基Scallywag Fuku號通知,其定水板慘遭損毀,故被迫退出比賽;全體船員現正回航,預料於今晚6時至7時到達香港遊艇會。 首支參賽船隊預計最快將會在星期五(10月19日)早上抵達海南,並將會打破2016 年由新鴻基李成煌另一艘船 - 100尺超級帆船Scallywag 號所做出的記錄23 小時31分52秒。

Hong Kong to Hainan Race Starts... and SHK Scallywag Fuku Retires

The Hong Kong to Hainan Race got away this morning, in an easterly breeze of around 12kts. With a rather long start line, the fleet stuck to the committee boat end and played it safe as the gun sounded ensuring no boat was over the line. First through the Lei Yue Mun Gap was Karl Kwok’s MOD Beau Geste 70 followed by Meitatsu Fukumoto and Seng Huang Lee’s Orma 60 SHK Scallywag Fuku. China Coast Regatta Day 3 / Wrap Up

Another superb day of excellent conditions; 15kts, sunshine and blue skies for the final races of Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s China Coast Regatta 2018. Racing got away smoothly with all IRC Racer and HKPN divisions sailing one windward / leeward and one islands course ranging in distance from 10 to 16.5nm. The islands course took the fleet on a beat towards a windward mark and reaching to an ocean mark before rounding Beaufort or Sung Kong and finishing off Bluff Head near Stanley. After the windward / leeward this morning, Hong Kong’s TP52 Free Fire owned by Sam Chan came out on top of the IRC Racer 0 division, putting herself 8 points ahead and untouchable to Shawn Kang’s Ker 46+ Lighth

中國海岸帆船賽 – 賽事順利結束

香港遊艇會主辦的「中國海岸帆船賽2018」來到最後一日,天色依然晴朗,平均風力15節。IRC 競賽組及HKPN組別順利進行了一場順風逆風賽及一場約10至16.5海浬的環島賽。各船隊在進行環島賽時,需以逆風駛往首個浮標,再繞過另一標記後一直向宋崗島進發,終點設於近赤柱的黃竹角嘴。 Tiffany Koo 的King Mills 40 Hero Racing Team在IRC競賽組中勝出。Tiffany 在無人匹敵的情況下,憑最後一場環島賽得勝。 IRC 高級巡航組進行了兩場10海浬的環島賽;今日第二場賽事起點設於赤柱以南,以順風賽開始。 所有參賽隊伍已完成比賽,並回到香港遊艇會中途島會所上稍作休息。總頒獎禮將會在10 月16日(星期四)在吉列島進行。 「中國海岸帆船賽週2019」將在明年10月11至13日舉行,期望到時能再見到大家。香港至越南賽將緊隨在2019年10月16日展開。

China Coast Regatta Day 2

The breeze picked up for Day 2 of China Coast Regatta. A 20-25kts northeasterly breeze greeted the sailors as they reached the race track this morning, which was located to the southeast of Lamma Island. 34 boats came out for racing; the IRC Racer classes sailed three windward / leewards and had four retirements in the first race of the day which looked to mostly be spinnaker-related issues. IRC Premier Cruiser sailed two islands courses and HKPN were given one windward / leeward and an island course. As the day progressed the breeze moderated to around 15kts and the sunshine came out making for the best sailing conditions Hong Kong has to offer. It was an epic sight to see Meitatsu Fukumo

香港遊艇會今天舉行「中國海岸帆船賽2018」次日賽事,全日風勢平均約15節左右,温暖的陽光照射在海面上,為香港營造出最佳的賽船條件。 34艘賽船於南丫島東南面海域進行今日比賽;IRC 競賽級別帆船共進行了三場順風逆風賽,有四隊參賽隊伍因球帆問題而退出第一場比賽。IRC 高級巡航船組進行了兩場環島賽,而HKPN 分組則進行了順風逆風賽和環島賽各一場。 為期三天的賽事明天便告終。賽事結束一小時後在吉列島會所舉行晚宴。天氣方面,預計明日依然晴朗,各級帆船將會進行兩場比賽。

China Coast Regatta Day 1

There were perfect conditions across the race track for Day 1 of the China Coast Regatta with blue skies and a 10 to 15kts north easterly breeze. 28 boats took to the race track, which was located southeast of Hong Kong’s Lamma Island. All IRC racing divisions sailed one windward / leeward and an islands course, with the IRC Premier Cruising sailing a single island course. The first race of the day saw many competitors get a feel for the conditions, with sailors tightening up their drops by the end of the race. 為期三天的「中國海岸帆船賽2018」今日正式展開,首日設兩場賽事,是日天晴,海面吹10至15節東北風。首日共有28艘賽船參賽,起點設於南丫島東南海域。所有IRC競賽級別賽船需進行順風及逆風賽,和環島賽,而高級巡航船組別則只需進行環島賽。 IRC競賽1組賽事中的唯一的女舵手Tiffany Koo在首場賽事憑駕駛the King Mills 40, Hero號勇奪冠軍。 各參賽者在第二場賽事根據不同級別而進行19至32海哩的賽事,途中遇上強勁的順風和逆風,及不少島嶼等障礙 。 賽事焦點亦落在 Meitatsu Fukumoto/新鴻基李成煌的ORMA 60 SHK Scallywag FUKU號;很可惜她的對手郭志樑的MOD Beau Geste 70號因維修事宜而暫時未能於本賽事出戰,但兩支勁旅將於下星期四(10月18日)舉行的香港至海南賽一較高下。 賽事明天將繼續進行,並有6艘HKPN級別賽船加入。

China Coast Race Week Starts Tomorrow!

The 26th Edition of the China Coast Regatta starts tomorrow and the forecast looks promising with a freshening northeasterly monsoon of 15 to 20kts, which is predicted to blow all weekend and possibly strengthen throughout the regatta. 35 yachts will compete across seven divisions, with the biggest contingent coming from IRC Division 1. Joining IRC Division 1, Fred Kinmonth and Nick Burns’ GTS Mandrake III will be hunting down the hat trick after taking first place in their division in the 2016 and 2017 regatta.
