香港遊艇會芽莊拉力賽-   FreeFire 勇奪IRC 競賽總冠軍

香港遊艇會芽莊拉力賽最後一隻帆船,Joachim Isler 及Andrew Taylor擁有的Mills 41型「Ambush號」,昨晚(10月18日)10時40分42秒越過終點,取得IRC 競選1組冠軍。 眾人焦點一直都落於「Ambush號」,能否搶走陳永燊的TP52型「FreeFire號」在IRC 競賽組總排名第一的地位,「FreeFire號」最終以修正時間66小時22分7秒成功保住IRC競賽總冠軍。 船長Russ Parker 對於同時摘下IRC 競賽0 組冠軍表示非常欣慰:「這場拉力賽令我們濕透,徹底濕透! 船速很快,打破歷來航行至芽莊的最快紀錄。非常感謝香港遊艇會在最後緊頭排除萬難令拉力賽可順利舉行。 可惜船主陳永燊未有同行,不過全體船員藉此機會感謝他交託重任,才能創下佳績。」 Geoff Hill的Santa Cruz 72型「Antipodes號」以修正時間68小時33分1秒,取得IRC 競賽0組的第三名:「這是亞洲區內最佳的活動,我們在50小時內完成,最高時速高達31海浬,以一艘三十年船齡的賽船來說,表現已經不錯! 這是亞洲區內最標誌性的帆船活動,亦是我參加過的最好一個! 」 緊隨「Antipodes號」衝線的是拿下IRC 競賽2組冠軍的「Jinn號」,由於比IRC 其餘組別提早28小時出發,在海上經歷更多磨練,船主Nicolas Cohen-Addad憶述當中的驚險時刻:「這場拉力賽非常艱辛,尤其是最初20小時。我們冒著5至6米湧浪,32至33海浬大風順風航行,兩名船員首次離岸遠航都受不了。整體上還可以,只不過因為實在太大風了,損毀了三張球形帆,船隻駛進漁網

RHKYC Nha Trang Rally- FreeFire triumphs in IRC Overall

Joachim Isler and Andrew Taylor’s Mills 41 Ambush was the final boat to sail into Nha Trang, Vietnam last night (18 Oct) at 22h 40m 42s(HK Time), putting her in 1st place for IRC Race 1 division. Sam Chan’s TP 52 FreeFire finished the rally in corrected elapsed time of 66h 22m7s, all eyes had been on Ambush to see if she could wrestle the Overall prize from FreeFire but it was not to be. Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club Nha Trang Rally- SHK Scallywag/ FUKU takes Line Honours!

Hong Kong entry Orma 60 SHK Scallywag/FUKU sailed into Nha Trang, Vietnam on 17 October at 21h 19m 27s (HK time) to take the Multihull Line Honours for the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club Nha Trang Rally in an elapsed time of 30h 9m 27s. All eyes were on the dueling trimarans; Italian Maserati Multi70 and SHK Scallywag/FUKU. Both trimarans had a wild ride; hurtling down the South China Sea in a nail biting, exhilarating run down to Vietnam. Before the Rally, Skipper David Witt estimated SHK Scallywag/FUKU would cross the line after 28 hours and said “A smart man once told me, “win the start, stay in the run, win the race”. Due to a course amendment to Nha Trang and with a view to protecting the integrity and race records of the original Hong Kong to Vietnam Race, today's event was renamed the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club Nha Trang Rally. The start time had to be adjusted to 1510hrs after the race management team published a revised course late morning which included an additional exclusion zone near the east of Quoy Nhon, Vietnam and a new finishing point. Hong Kong to Vietnam Race 2019 - First Start

It was a beautiful day in Hong Kong harbour with blue skies and an easterly breeze averaging 15kts for the start of IRC Racer 2 in the Hong Kong to Vietnam Race 2019 right outside Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club's Kellett Island clubhouse. As the horn sounded at 1120hrs, Nicolas Cohen-Addad’s J122e Jinn and Michael Lunn’s Azuree 40’s Lion Rock started their 673nm journey. Jinn performed particularly well at the start and led out of the Victoria Harbour. Lion Rock managed to marginally shorten the distance between them by sailing near around Dangan Dao, both yachts are clocking a VMG of 8 to 9kts towards Nha Trang in Vietnam. A fiercely competitive fleet of nine boats are about to set off on the 9th Hong Kong to Vietnam Race with two starts on 15 and 16 October. The focal point of the race falls on two trimarans: Italian Maserati Multi70 racing against Hong Kong’s Orma 60, SHK Scallywag/FUKU. The trimarans’ goal, other than winning in their category, will be to challenge the race speed record set in 2015 by Syd Fischer with Ragamuffin 100 which crossed the finish line after 42h 17m 24s and clocking an average VMG of 15.8kts. China Coast Regatta Day 3 / Wrap Up

China Coast Regatta 2019 wrapped up today after three days of racing was squeezed into two (thanks to a windless Day 2 which forced racing to be cancelled). Luckily with the arrival of northeasterly monsoon, an average of 6 to 7kts of breeze greeted the sailors today as they reached the race track which was located at the southeast of Lamma Island. 32 boats came out for racing and the IRC Racer classes sailed two windward/leeward to begin with. China Coast Regatta Day 1

Although the forecast looked grim, the wind was better than expected across the race track for Day 1 of the China Coast Regatta. Race Officer Inge Strompf-Jepsen managed to find a patch of westerly breeze averaging 6kts southeast of Hong Kong's Lamma Island. 25 boats from all IRC Racer divisions were sent on windward/leeward courses and two yachts from IRC premier Cruising division were set an islands course around Waglan and Sung Kong.
